Andrew Koons, DO
Fellowship Director for LVHN Medical Toxicology Fellowship and Assistant Emergency Medicine Clerkship Director
Hello, my name is Andrew Koons and I am faculty for the emergency medicine residency and medical toxicology fellowship programs. I grew up an hour south of the Lehigh Valley as the middle child of three boys. I attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2008. For the next two years, I worked in education, teaching math and science at my high school alma mater. Medical school took me to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where I attended Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine until 2014. After graduation, I came back closer to home for my residency training here at LVHN in emergency medicine, where I served as a chief resident. In 2018, I graduated residency and stayed at LVHN for my medical toxicology fellowship. I am board certified in emergency medicine, medical toxicology and addiction medicine. Aside from my love for bedside clinical medicine, my passion lies in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents. Most of my free time is spent with my wife and three boys and cheering on any Philadelphia sports team.
