Bill Rowan
Faculty, Walter and Irene Baran Schuylkill Family Medicine Residency Program
My name is Bill Rowan and I am director of the Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill Counseling Center, where I manage a substance use disorder treatment program. My responsibilities include oversight for the Alcohol Highway Safety Program, Underage Alcohol and Other Drug Education Program, Intensive Outpatient, and Outpatient Treatment services; Tobacco Cessation and Prevention services; and Level of Care Assessment and Referral services. The program is licensed by the Division of Drug and Alcohol Programs in the Pennsylvania Department of Health and has JACHO accreditation.
I earned my master’s degree in counseling/psychology from Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pa., and my bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bloomsburg University in Bloomsburg, Pa. I am a licensed professional counselor as well as a certified advanced alcohol and drug counselor and a master trainer with the Pennsylvania DUI Association.
I am a passionate champion for behavioral health programming in Schuylkill County. As a resident of the county and experienced provider of addiction and behavioral health resources, I am knowledgeable about existing community resources and gaps in services that could be lessened through better integration with primary care. I am also a member of several school and community-based coalitions and advisory boards, and actively participate in many other community organizations throughout Schuylkill County.
