Gisela Vargas, MD
Assistant Program Director, Internal Medicine Residency
Hello, I’m Gisela Vargas. I’m an assistant program director for LVHN’s internal medicine residency program. I was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and grew up in Glen Burnie, Md. I went to college at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md. I attended medical school at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pa. While in medical school, I came to the realization that my favorite part of patient care was developing long-term relationships. I knew primary care was my calling after my internal medicine rotation. I’m very proud to say that I completed my residency training at Lehigh Valley Health Network, and I’ve called this place home ever since. Celebrating improved diabetes control and weddings with my patients are the highlights of my job. Outside the clinical realm, my passions include diversity, inclusion and cultural humility.
I currently reside in the Lehigh Valley with my husband and my adorable corgi, Thorgi. I enjoy rolling dice by playing board games and Dungeons and Dragons. When I’m not slaying monsters, I love cheering for the Cleveland Browns. I’ve started dabbling in nature walks and hiking, and, lucky for me, there are a ton of options in the area.
