A graduate of the State University of New York-Health Science Center at Syracuse, Dr. Allen completed an internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Mount Auburn Hospital, a Harvard University Medical School Teaching Hospital.
Between 1998 and 2001, Dr. Allen was a Harvard University Clinical Fellow. From 2002-2010, she was a Hospitalist at Reading Hospital and Medical Center. As of 2006 through the end of 2011, this included the role of Palliative Care Program Medical Director. From 2008 through 2011 she was the Reading Hospital Palliative Care Resident Rotation Director and from 2009 through 2011 the Reading Hospital Inpatient Hospice Medical Director. Since 2012, she has been a physician with the Lehigh Valley Health Network OACIS/Palliative Medicine Service.Allen is board-certified in Internal Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine. She is a Harvard Medical School Center for Palliative Care Faculty Scholar and a Trainer for Educating Physicians in End of Life Care (EPEC). She serves as associate program director for the HPM Fellowship Program at Lehigh Valley Health Network. Her research interests include quality of life and symptom burden in the elderly on hemodialysis.
