Joseph Lettiere
President and Chief Executive Officer, CAN DO, Inc.
Joseph Lettiere joined the Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Hazleton Board of Directors in January 2024. He is president and chief executive officer (CEO) of CAN DO, Inc., a leading economic developer in the Greater Hazleton region.
Mr. Lettiere joined CAN DO in January 2000 as an economic development specialist, was promoted to director of marketing in 2002 and promoted again in 2005 to vice president of sales and marketing. In November 2014, Mr. Lettiere was named vice president of the organization, then moved to executive vice president in September 2019. He assumed the role of president and CEO of CAN DO in January 2021.
As only the third president and CEO of CAN DO, Mr. Lettiere continues the organization’s mission to improve the quality of life in Greater Hazleton through a wide range of job creation and retention initiatives. To date, his efforts to spur local entrepreneurial activity, retain business and recruit regional, national and global companies to Greater Hazleton have resulted in thousands of family-sustaining jobs and the contribution of hundreds of millions of dollars to the local economy. Mr. Lettiere has been involved with some of the largest projects CAN DO has seen including Simmons, Cargill, Cargill Cocoa and Chocolate, AutoZone, IRIS USA, U.S. Cold Storage, Amazon, American Eagle Outfitters, Niagara Bottling, Little Leaf Farms, Arcadia Cold Storage and Amapharm.
Mr. Lettiere is a native of the Hazleton area. He attended Bloomsburg University where he received both his bachelor’s degree in marketing and master’s degree in business administration. He is a member of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) and the Pennsylvania Economic Development Association (PEDA). Mr. Lettiere served as chairman of the board for Penn’s Northeast and remains an executive board member of the regional marketing group. He sits on the board of trustees for Luzerne County Community College and is an advisory board member at Penn State Hazleton. He also holds board positions for the Downtown Hazleton Alliance for Progress (DHAP), the CAN DO Community Foundation, the Hazleton Rotary Club and the Hazleton Area Education Foundation. Mr. Lettiere also sits on the boards for AllOne Charities, SHINE and tecBRIDGE.
Mr. Lettiere resides in the Hazleton area with his wife, Alexa, and daughter, Lucciana.
