Kelly Frinzi
Lead Patient Liaison, LVHN Patient Blood Management and Bloodless Surgery
Kelly Frinzi is the Lead Patient Liaison for the LVHN Patient Blood Management and Bloodless Surgery team. Frinzi has been involved with bloodless medicine at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) before the program’s inception. Her participation with the network’s bloodless surgery program steering committee helped paved the way for patients to come to LVHN for bloodless surgery. She is the primary resource for patients, clinicians, families and LVHN colleagues for bloodless medicine. Her role involves conducting inpatient and outpatient consults with patients and families to discuss the alternatives to blood transfusions offered at LVHN. Through patient advocacy and close contact with members of the patient’s care team, she can help ensure the patient’s choices are understood and respected. Frinzi leads the training of patient blood management and bloodless surgery to team members and for LVHN colleague in-services, which contributes to both the patient and care team members having mutual understanding on care. Additionally, Frinzi maintains close contact with the Jehovah’s Witnesses hospital liaison committee to make sure the medical and spiritual needs of its members are met.
Frinzi has been a valued colleague of LVHN for more than 17 years, beginning as a business coordinator in the division of education. She advanced her career to risk management, where she was responsible for paralegal duties for the network. Working in the legal area of the hospital, Frinzi has a strong desire to defend and advocate to ensure a patient’s wishes are respected and honored.
Frinzi earned her associate degree in paralegal studies from Lehigh Carbon Community College and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in technical leadership management at Bloomsburg University. Additionally, she earned the Society for the Advancement of Patient Blood Management certification in patient blood management.
