Michael Pasquale, MD, MHA, FACS
Chair, Department of Surgery; Physician in Chief, Lehigh Valley Institute for Surgical Excellence; and System Chief, Jefferson Health Perioperative Services
Dr. Pasquale serves Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) as the Anne and Carl Anderson Distinguished Chair of the Department of Surgery and the Physician in Chief for Lehigh Valley Institute for Surgical Excellence. He also serves as System Chief for Jefferson Health Perioperative Services and is an adjunct professor/clinical scholar at Thomas Jefferson University. He is a professor of surgery at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. Prior to this appointment in July 2011, he had served for many years as LVHN’s Senior Vice Chairman for the Department of Surgery and the Chief of the Division of Trauma and Surgical Critical Care.
Dr. Pasquale is board-certified by the American Board of Surgery in general surgery and surgical critical care and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. In addition, he is a member of the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma, where he had previously served as Chief of Region III; the American Association for the Surgery of Trauma, where he served on the outcomes committee; the Pennsylvania Committee on Trauma, where he had served as Vice Chair and also chaired the ad hoc committee on site survey outcomes measurements; and the Eastern Association for the Surgery of Trauma, where he served as a President and member of the EAST Foundation Board.
Dr. Pasquale is a graduate of Bethany College, where he received a Bachelor of Science in chemistry. He received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and general surgery residency at Georgetown University Hospital. He completed a surgical critical care fellowship at the University of Minnesota Hospital and Clinics. He received his Master of Healthcare Administration from the University of Providence in Great Falls, Montana.
