Sharon Maynard, MD
Vice Chair of Education
Hi, I’m Sharon Maynard, the Vice Chair of Education for the Department of Medicine and Program Director of the Nephrology Fellowship at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN). I grew up in New Jersey, completed medical school and internal medicine residency at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and a nephrology fellowship at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. I was junior faculty at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., and George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C. before coming to the Lehigh Valley to start the Nephrology Fellowship program. My passion for education started when I revamped the second-year medical-school renal pathophysiology course when I was at George Washington University.
I love teaching and mentoring fellows, residents and students. What I love most about LVHN are the culture and community of kindness, support and camaraderie that I have found here. During my time off, I enjoy running, road biking, reading novels and spending time with my extended family.
