Terrence J. Purcell, MBA, is Senior Vice President, Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), President of Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Schuylkill and President of the LVHN Northwest Region, which includes LVH–Schuylkill, LVH–Hazleton and LVH–Carbon. He also is a member of the LVH–Hazleton and LVH–Schuylkill Boards of Directors.
In addition to his responsibilities as President of LVHN’s Northwest Region, Mr. Purcell served as President of LVH–Carbon from 2021 to 2022 during the construction of LVHN’s newest hospital in Lehighton, Carbon County. He also served as President of LVH–Hazleton from 2021 to 2023 during which time the hospital continued its “A” grade in patient safety from the Leapfrog Group and received a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS). He also oversaw the construction of Lehigh Valley Topper Cancer Institute’s newest cancer center on the LVH–Hazleton campus. In 2023, he took over the day-to-day responsibilities as President of LVH–Schuylkill, in addition to being President of the Northwest Region. During his tenure, LVH–Schuylkill earned its heighted Leapfrog grade and highest CMS Star Rating in its history.
Prior to joining LVHN, Mr. Purcell was President of St. Luke’s Gnaden Huetten and Palmerton campuses. He also served as Senior Vice President of Operations and Vice President of Ambulatory and Support Services for the organization. From 1986 to 1988, he served as Employment Manager at Hazleton–St. Joseph Medical Center.
Mr. Purcell earned a Master of Business Administration from Wilkes University and Bachelor of Business Administration from Bloomsburg University. He serves on the Boards of Directors of Hospital Central Services, Inc., Greater Hazleton Chamber of Commerce, CANDO Corporation, Carbon, Monroe, Pike and Wayne Counties Workforce Investment Board, Hazleton Area High School Eagle Foundation and the Lehigh Valley Physician Hospital Association. Mr. Purcell formerly served as Board Chair of Hospital Central Services, Inc., Treasurer of East Central Area Health Education Center and as a member of the Mahanoy Area School Board.
