Mr. Kirkwood, a member of the Lehigh Valley Hospital–Pocono Board of Directors, is the owner of Kirkwood & Sons LLP. He has more than 30 years of experience in emerging markets, with deep expertise in the mineral and energy sectors. He started his investment banking career at Wasserstein Perella & Co. In 1991, he moved to China where he established several businesses in the oil and gas, property, telecommunications and investment industries. Mr. Kirkwood is currently a member of the Board of Directors of Sino Geophysical Co. LTD, a mining and metals exploration company based in Beijing, China. He is also a shareholder in YeePay and an adviser on energy-related matters to KW&Co. Mr. Kirkwood was born in Thailand. He has a Master of Arts in Oriental Studies from the University of Cambridge, England. Mr. Kirkwood is fluent (spoken and written) in Mandarin Chinese. His interests include spending time with his family, oil and gas exploration, geophysics, fly fishing, ice hockey and tennis. Mr. Kirkwood and his wife co-sponsor The Bright Angel Fund, China’s first private charity for the blind, and they actively support the Peace Corps and Special Olympics in China. Mr. Kirkwood resides in Shawnee on Delaware, Pa., with his wife and four children.
