Hi, I’m Tim Pellini, the Assistant Residency Program Director at LVHN. I have been part of the LVHN OBGYN faculty since 2007. I was born in Philadelphia, PA and like any good son of this city, consider myself a 4 for 4 guy (ask me about it). I attended Hahnemann University School of Medicine (now Drexel) and completed my residency at the National Capital Consortium (Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the National Naval Medical Center) in Washington, DC. I spent a total of 12 years in the Army, 8 of those in the Medical Corps. That privilege is the only experience that surpasses working with our residents.

Finding a residency program that “fits” is similar to choosing your job after residency. You are making a decision that will effect you professionally and personally. And you are asked to make that decision with relatively little information. You will research programs, talk with your faculty, other applicants, and certainly faculty and residents at programs you interview. We would love to show you our wonderful facilities, but the internet and zoom will have to do for now. But it is truly the people here that make our program special. I have known this since 2007 and never regretted my decision to join.

As for the people- our residents are a group who support and mentor each other. I have seen first hand how much they care for one another. They are hard-working and will expect the same from you. Our faculty are committed to our residents’ development both professionally and personally. In the office, operating room, and labor unit you will be asked and expected to care for your patients as if they were the women of your family. And certainly the patients we serve; truly an amazing group of women who are diverse and complex and remind us of how fortunate we are to be women’s healthcare physicians. These are the groups of people that make our program special.

My wife and I have 2 kids. A daughter and son both juniors in college and high-school. They have made me proud beyond words.

While I am not yet sure what you are looking for in a program, I can tell you what I am looking for in a resident. When you leave LVHN, I want to be comfortable knowing it was you taking care of my mom, wife, or daughter. The 3 most important women in my world. I couldn’t pay another doctor a higher compliment.
