Dr. Arwand was born in Kabul, Afghanistan, and immigrated with his parents to the United States when he was very young. He was raised in New Jersey, where he attended primary and secondary school. Xander was heavily influenced by his grandfather, who served as a physician in Afghanistan, and decided at a young age that he was going to pursue a career in his grandfather’s footsteps. As he worked hard on his education, he also discovered a passion for sports and fitness. Xander wrestled and played football while attending school. In the years that followed high school, he tried his hand at bodybuilding and martial arts. He juggled these hobbies while completing a bachelor of science in biology at The College of New Jersey. Upon completing college, Xander then worked as a fragrance chemist and also obtained his certification as a personal trainer. Ultimately, he returned to school to pursue his goal of becoming a physician at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine, obtaining his DO in 2016. His residency training in family medicine was completed at CarePoint Health, Christ Hospital, in Jersey City, N.J., and he completed his sports medicine fellowship at LVHN. Xander’s decision to extend his training with a specialty in sports medicine reflects the culmination of his passions of medicine, sports and fitness. In addition to his career goals, Xander enjoys traveling and aspires to see many places in the years to come.
