What is Bridging the Gaps Community Health Internship Program (BTG CHIP)?
BTG links the training of health and social service professionals with the provision of health-related services for underserved and economically disadvantaged populations.
BTG CHIP is a paid seven-week interdisciplinary community-based summer internship program that helps students gain a broader understanding of the factors that affect health in urban communities. BTG matches student interns with non-profit community partners in Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey. Students' projects are designed in collaboration with the community organizations based on community-defined needs and the professional discipline and interests of the students.
Who qualifies for BTG CHIP?
Any graduate-level health professions (social work, medical, nursing) student OR undergraduate healthcare professional student who has completed two years of study is invited to call for more information.
How do I apply? How can I find out more?
Students should apply online during early spring via www.bridgingthegaps.info. Once students apply and express interest in a Lehigh Valley project, they will be interviewed and matched to a site/project based on the site’s needs and the student’s professional discipline and interest.
