BabyCam Gives Parents 24/7 NICU Connection
Parents of infants who need specialty care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) can’t always be there 24/7.
In December 2012, LVHN launched a program called BabyCam in the NICU. BabyCam allows parents and other parent-approved individuals to view the baby through a secure internet connection. A web camera is placed above the infant’s bassinette and provides family members a bird’s-eye view of the baby at any time of day. As family members learn care routines, they can enjoy seeing the baby and feel more connected even when they are unable to be physically present. BabyCam is provided at the NICUs at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest and Lehigh Valley Hospital–Muhlenberg.
