About
Philosophy of care
My years of medical training, teaching at academic centers and extensive patient experience taught me how to analyze complex clinical scenarios. But it was my patients who taught me the most valuable lessons about medical care and patient relationships. A good physician treats patients with an expertise that comes from knowing the whole person, so much more than just a list of symptoms and sets of test results.
Why I entered medicine
My decision to enter medicine was the result of experience and self-discovery. I spent my undergraduate years going to school and working at a laboratory. There I discovered I loved biology and the medical sciences. But although I loved research, in many ways I found it too disconnected from people. When I volunteered at a foster home for children, I realized I found helping others more rewarding. Medicine has the potential to impact humanity in a unique way and its success comes when you can put others first.
Community involvement
I have discussed with community health groups the benefits of exercise, a healthy diet and treatments of different neurological conditions. I have volunteered with special needs children, especially kids with emotional, behavioral and learning challenges.
Personal interests
When not in medical practice, I enjoy skiing, traveling and exploring different cultures. I love listening to opera music and visiting modern art exhibitions. I am also taking up yoga and meditation, improving work focus, personal relationships and sleep.
