About

Philosophy of care

I view the role of nurse-midwife to be a patient advocate, teacher, problem solver, and coordinator. I became a nurse-midwife because there is no one “right way” to have a healthy baby. As a nurse-midwife, my job is to provide excellent care while collaborating, encouraging, supporting and advocating for women and the type of births they envisioned.

Why I entered medicine

A woman in labor is often at her most vulnerable. Whether she’s a long-term patient or someone I’ve just met, the bond we share is inexplicable. I get to witness her at her strongest, her weakest, during times of absolute joy, and occasionally sorrow. It’s a great honor and I really can’t imagine a better job.

Personal interests

Five years ago, we adopted our Australian Shepherd, Watson. On my days off, you’ll find us hiking, at the dog park, or swimming in the river. I love Broadway, so a trip up to NYC is always a good time. We spend our summers tent camping and going to drive-in movies. Lastly, I am a huge sports fan. Ask me about my San Francisco Giants or my Kansas City Chiefs!
