Why I chose Lehigh Valley Health Network
- “The faculty and staff are excellent and are clearly invested in the residents they work with.”
- “The Lehigh Valley is a great place to live, where you are in relatively short driving distance from Philadelphia and New York City, have access to many different restaurants, stores and sources of entertainment in the city, but also can enjoy a more rural/suburban lifestyle if you like that.”
- “Newer program that offers opportunity that established programs do not.”
- “Faculty and staff are the best and nicest that I have worked with.”
- “LVHN was my top choice for residency because of the people! I saw how dedicated and welcoming the faculty and support staff were on my interview day, which sealed my decision. It is clear that the LVHN Psychiatry Residency program is highly focused on creating a positive learning environment for both their residents and medical students.”
- “I chose LVHN after getting to know the remarkable people here during interview day! Each person was very welcoming, and I felt a part of the close-knit community. I knew I would receive exceptional training from the faculty and staff and I would have a great support system from my colleagues.”
- “I chose LVHN because of the focus on teaching residents well while still balancing resident wellness and lifestyle. The workload is perfect for feeling engaged and learning a lot while not feeling overwhelmed.”
- “I chose LVHN partially because of the region. It is a beautiful area, with plenty of nearby mountains, various historic and fun towns, and being close to major cities.”
- “I was drawn to LVHN because of the leadership in the psychiatry program. The faculty in the psychiatry program are very excited to have the residents here and are very eager to guide and develop our careers. As a current fourth year, I can attest that over the last four years this excitement has only grown. Program leadership continues to find new ways to integrate residents into different aspects of patient care. While the work is often challenging, I have always felt supported and feel ready to begin my career as an attending next year.”
- “I chose LVHN because of the unique combination of academic and community training opportunities that this program offers. We get to train in an academic setting alongside other residents and medical students at the Cedar Crest location. We also get exposed to the community-hospital setting at the Muhlenberg and 17th Street locations. These various training settings also expose residents to a diverse patient population. Another reason why I chose LVHN is because of how responsive the program is to residents’ concerns. The program’s administration is readily available for residents, and weekly meetings with the program director and monthly meetings with the department chair allow residents to bring up concerns directly to the administration.”
