Job Duties
- Assists with continuing education of staff as it relates to mental/behavioral health.
- Communicates treatment plans to department clinical staff on a regular basis and in a comprehensive manner.
- Develops with patient initial goals and interventions designed to address and reduce psychiatric/ behavioral symptoms.
- Ensures documentation of patient's participation and agreement in goal development and interventions.
- Ensures patients in need of behavioral intervention are afforded the opportunity for such services within the AAO, Network, or community.
- Provides therapeutic interventions using a trauma-informed behavior change model appropriate to symptomatology and presentation.
- Provides treatment planning, goal development, and intervention strategies in active therapy cases.
- Provides initial psychosocial assessments with appropriate documentation and develops initial treatment plan.
- Facilitates support groups for patients.
- Oversees quality improvement measures and evaluation components of the department's mental and behavioral health program.
- Provides mental health / behavioral assessment, referral coordination, and disposition.
- Provides or obtains appropriate and necessary level of intervention to eliminate or decrease crisis.
Minimum Qualifications- Master’s Degree in Social Work or a counseling related field.
- 2 years experience working with HIV-infected patients or persons living with chronic illness. or
- 4 years experience in healthcare, mental health, or substance abuse treatment setting.
- Familiarity with the public and private mental health and substance abuse service delivery system in Pennsylvania. Understanding of regulations and responsibilities surrounding mental health counseling.
- Knowledge about AIDS pandemic and its impact on individuals, families, healthcare, and the community.
