SummaryUtilizes pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information to process prescriptions. Assists the pharmacists in performing technical duties related to the distribution of drugs to patients.
Job Duties
- Assists pharmacists in preparing and dispensing prescription orders.
- Ensures compliance to USP 797 and USP 800 and other pertinent sterile compounding regulations including but not limited to hand hygiene, garbing, cleaning and material transfer and all related competency assessments.
- Ensures all medications are properly labeled, checked by a pharmacist, and dispensed in a timely manner.
- Monitors medication expiration dates and ensures no expired medications are in circulation.
- Complies with all record-keeping, including controlled substances.
- Communicates all drug information requests to a pharmacist.
- Assists with orientation and training of new pharmacy colleagues.
- Maintains adequate inventory of prescription and/or over-the-counter products in the designated areas.
- Monitors medication inventory levels and places orders to restock.
Minimum Qualifications- High School Diploma/GED
- 5 years Sterile compounding pharmacy technician.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good math skills needed for counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge and ability to use pharmacy automation.
- Knowledge of good sterile compounding practices and regulations
- CSPT - Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician - State of Pennsylvania within 180 Days
Preferred Qualifications- Knowledge of inventory control.
- Knowledge of brand name/generic medications.
- CSPT - Certified Sterile Compounding Pharmacy Technician - State of Pennsylvania Upon Hire
Physical DemandsLift and carry 25 lbs. frequent sitting/standing, frequent keyboard use, *patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
