Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is hosting its annual Amputee Awareness Day on Saturday, April 27, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, Kasych Family Pavilion. This annual event provides an opportunity to meet with vendors who specialize in products for people who have limb loss, as well as to a hear a speaker during the catered lunch.
This year’s Amputee Awareness Day speaker is world champion motorcycle racer and athlete Reggie Showers. He will share the story of his life journey, from the tragic accident that took his legs to the heights of his success, including achieving his childhood dream to become a champion motorcycle racer.
Showers also has walked across the African Serengeti, a feat recorded for a National Geographic Channel documentary, and climbed Cayambe, an 18,000-foot stratovolcano in Ecuador. He’s also an accomplished pilot, certified snowboard instructor and marathoner.
Amputee Awareness Day is sponsored by the Lehigh Valley Amputee Awareness Group.
