Lehigh Valley Health Network Goes the Distance for Its Community

LVHN serves as the presenting sponsor for the 2nd Annual Bethlehem Running Festival, helping get over 2,500 people moving

Regular physical exercise such as running can significantly improve mental health, self-confidence, healthy aging and quality of life. It’s because of these reasons, Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) is proud to sponsor events like the Bethlehem Running Festival, which in just its second year has already become a beloved tradition for many area residents and running clubs.

For those who missed it, the 2nd annual Bethlehem Running Festival presented by LVHN took place on Oct. 18-20. Attracting over 2,500 runners and creating a celebratory atmosphere throughout the city, this year’s festival showcased a range of events, including the Aardvark Sports Shop Trail Run, the Lexus 5K and 10K, the Lehigh Valley Orthopedic Institute Half Marathon, and the B. Braun Half Marathon Relay. It also featured a new addition – the Lehigh Valley IronPigs Kids Run, which was held on the indoor track at Rauch Field House and successfully brought young runners and their families out for a fun and memorable evening.

“We are incredibly grateful to the entire city of Bethlehem for coming out to run, cheer and make this event possible.” - Michael Ragozzino

In addition to being presenting sponsors, LVHN provided on-site event medical services throughout the weekend in partnership with the City of Bethlehem EMS, as well as on-site recovery services for runners after the half marathon. There were also promotional activations, which included a “Cheer Station” with sign-making and co-branded LVHN cheer cowbells.

“We are incredibly grateful to the entire city of Bethlehem for coming out to run, cheer and make this event possible,” says race director Michael Ragozzino. “From Mayor Reynolds on down, the city officials, LVHN and all our sponsors made this weekend unforgettable.”

In just two years, the Bethlehem Running Festival has raised over $40,000 for its primary charitable partner, the American Cancer Society, as well as for many other local charities in the region. It also has given thousands of people a reason to get moving.

If you couldn’t participate in this year’s event and would have liked to, make sure to mark your calendars for next year’s, which will take place Oct. 17-19, 2025. Registration for next year’s Bethlehem Running Festival is now open.

LVHN also is serving as the presenting sponsor of another event with the Pennsylvania Running Company – the Jim Thorpe Area Running Festival, which will take place in April 26-27, 2025. You can learn more about this event and register here.
