A passion for caring
Adepoju’s health care journey began while living in New York. She discovered her love for helping others and began her health care career as a pharmacy technician at Montefiore Medical Center. “Being a pharmacy technician allows me to touch many lives because of the many responsibilities associated with the job,” she says. Pharmacy technicians play a crucial role, assisting pharmacists in dispensing medications, managing inventory and ensuring patients receive accurate and timely medications. “Being a pharmacy technician at LVHN has been a wonderful experience,” says Adepoju, who has a bachelor’s degree in health care administration and now has her sights set on a new professional goal.
A vision for growth
Inspired by her experiences and the encouragement of her supervisor, Babatunde Ogun, Adepoju is pursuing a career in nursing. She is attending Northampton Community College. “My first goal is to be a nurse on the mother-baby unit,” Adepoju says. She is passionate about caring for new moms and their babies and providing education during the first few days of parenthood. “Then, my next goal is to earn a master’s in public health. But first, I want to gain clinical experience at the bedside, at the forefront.”
Adepoju’s experience as a pharmacy technician equipped her with invaluable skills she will carry forward into her nursing career. “Working in health care requires teamwork – being able to work together during challenging times,” Adepoju says. Her ability to manage tough situations, such as the busy workload that accompanies handling chemotherapy orders, showcases her resilience and collaborative spirit.
Balancing career and family
Adepoju relocated to Pennsylvania four years ago, and her family is enjoying the benefits. The quieter, more peaceful environment and better schools for her children have been significant advantages. Her daughters, ages 15 and 12, are thriving in school and participating in various activities such as volleyball, cheerleading and music. Adepoju appreciates the balance she’s found at LVHN between her career aspirations and her family’s needs, which she believes would have been challenging to achieve in New York.
A future full of promise
Adepoju’s dedication to patient care, commitment to her personal and professional growth and unwavering support of her colleagues embody LVHN’s core values. As she transitions into nursing, Adepoju has her sights set on leaving a lasting mark on the lives of those she cares for. She knows she will succeed because she works for a health network that will help her achieve all her professional and personal goals.
