Onyinyech Anosike, DO
Hello, please call me Onyi. I was born in New Jersey and moved to Nigeria when I was 8. I completed elementary, middle and high school there and came back to the U.S. for college, where I attended college at Rutgers University-Newark and then took two years off before medical school. During one of those years off, I completed a post-baccalaureate program at Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, which is where I ultimately attended medical school.
I knew that I wanted to be an OB-GYN in my third year of medical school because it fit with my personal interests, and everything about the reproductive system intrigued me. I have a deep concern and admiration for women, and I wanted a career that allowed me to both serve and celebrate them. This field also combines medicine and surgery, which felt more than right for me.
I want to practice as an academic generalist or pursue a fellowship in OB-GYN, and I’m also interested in global medicine and pursuing research in hormonal disorders such as endometriosis and polycystic fibrosis.
In my free time, I like to go salsa dancing, buy more plants, get a facial, enjoy a nice drink with a good book and hang out with other residents.
