Lehigh Valley Health Network’s (LVHN) overall mission is to heal, comfort and care for the people of our community by providing advanced and compassionate health care of superior quality and value supported by education and clinical research. In line with our sponsoring institution’s mission, the psychiatry residency’s mission is to provide our residents with a balanced and comprehensive experience so that they can provide advanced and compassionate psychiatric care to our community supported by education and clinical research. What makes LVHN’s psychiatry program unique is that it provides the perfect combination of academic resources with the intimacy of a small-community program. This combination, in addition to its comprehensive psychiatric continuum of care, makes it the ideal setting to train.

Program Aims

  1. Prepare residents to evaluate any individual in need of psychiatric care and to provide an appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan.
  2. Provide residents with exposure to as many treatment venues and modalities as possible.
  3. Prepare residents to provide ongoing treatment of individuals with various psychiatric diagnoses and impairments.
  4. Train the future leaders in the field of psychiatry in clinical care, education, program development, administration and research.
