About

Philosophy of care

I believe that every person has the right to a fulfilling and healthy life. I also understand that each person's goals and health concerns are unique. When working with patients, I try to understand how their health affects their life. I enjoy working with each person to decide what steps we need to take together so that the patient can live his or her most healthy life.

Why I entered medicine

I chose to study medicine because I am fascinated by the human body and how it works. I chose to become a physician because I enjoy helping people to understand how they can keep their bodies healthy and to know what to do when the body becomes ill. I chose to practice family medicine because I love working with people of all ages, and I enjoy taking care of a variety of medical problems. I also value preventative medicine and impact that a person's social and family life has on his or her health. I feel very lucky to be able to pursue all of these different interests in one career!

Community involvement

During college I was part of a medical mission team that traveled to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Our team set up medical clinics and treated patients who had little access to physicians, pharmacies and hospitals. We provided health education, medical care, dental care, medications and supplies free of charge to everyone who came. This experience helped me to understand how important it is for people to have access to healthcare services, and it is one of the reasons I chose to practice primary care medicine.

Personal interests

Most of my spare time is devoted to enjoying the company of my family and friends. I also enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, kayaking and biking. I am also an avid runner, and I have completed several half marathons.
