About

Philosophy of care

I strongly believe in working together with each patient to prevent disease development and promote health. That’s my primary goal. My philosophy is to treat each person as a whole – body, mind and spirit. Everyone has a natural capacity for self-healing. As an osteopathic physician, I employ several approaches to help patients heal and maintain their health. I often combine osteopathic manipulative medicine (a hands-on diagnostic and therapeutic technique) and medical acupuncture with conventional medicine. Recently, I’ve become interested in functional medicine and nutrition, a science-based, patient-centered approach that focuses on treating the root causes of disease and dysfunction with dietary changes and other natural approaches rather than simply addressing the symptoms. I’m also interested in treating Lyme disease and other tick-borne infections that may be transmitted at the same time and cause patients to become chronically ill.

Why I entered medicine

I enjoy working with people and have always been passionate about helping them achieve health and wellness. I chose family medicine and osteopathic medicine in particular because I love taking care of whole families and being able to follow my patients throughout their entire lives.

Community involvement

Currently, my work and family commitments take up most of my time, but in the past I was active in my church choir.

Personal interests

I love gardening, visiting family and going out with my husband for ballroom dancing. Lately, my favorite activity is spending time with my young daughter.
