About

Philosophy of care

Being entrusted as a partner in your health is an immense honor and opportunity to learn not only about you but from you. Health and healing are a journey that must be both person-centered but also trauma-informed, and includes both an individual and a community perspective. I care for patients of all ages in ways that include office-based procedures and addiction care. I enjoy helping diverse populations, delivering high-quality, equitable care that advances individual and community health.

Why I entered medicine

My roots in the coal regions of Northeastern Pennsylvania provided me with the value of giving back and service. I entered medicine to use my skills to serve as that critical bridge between the community, the health system and public health to make an impact for individuals, their families and communities. My career has been dedicated to patient care, community engagement, education, research and policy, advancing health equity as well as community and population health.

Community involvement

I have always enjoyed networks and connections to community benefit organizations. I have built community-based programs for schools to address chronic disease burden, and through my work in addiction to address the ongoing overdose crisis. I have been involved in organized medicine at the state and national level, having served as president and board chair of the Pennsylvania Academy of Family Physicians and having held positions within the American Academy of Family Physicians.

Personal interests

As die-hard Philadelphia sports fan, I am frequently experiencing the highs and lows of what that life is like.
