Philosophy of care

I believe that of the most important aspects of medicine should be an effective partnership between a patient and physician. I believe it is important to treat patients as a whole person, taking into consideration their cultural and ethnic backgrounds but also other important aspects of their life such as their family, the community they live in, their religious beliefs, and their beliefs in the medical system. Most importantly I want to listen to my patients and help them understand the how and why of the condition so that they can feel empowered to take the best decision for their health and wellness.

Filosofía de atención

Pienso que uno de los aspectos más importantes de la medicina es poder tener una relación efectiva entre médico y paciente. Creo en la importancia de tratar a los pacientes de manera completa, tomando en consideración su cultura y etnicidad, además de otros aspectos importantes de su vida, como su familia, la comunidad en que viven, sus creencias religiosas y cómo se sienten con respecto al sistema de atención médica. Pero lo más importante es que quiero escuchar a mis pacientes y ayudarles a entender el cómo y el porqué de sus condiciones médicas con el propósito de animarlos y empoderarlos a tomar las mejores decisiones para su salud y bienestar.

Why I entered medicine

In my youth I had the privilege of serving people in need in Puerto Rico and also on two trips to Nicaragua. I saw first-hand how poor access to health care affected the lives of many. This grew in me a great passion to serve others through a career in medicine.

Por qué escogí una carrera de medicina

En mi adolescencia tuve el privilegio de poder servir a muchas personas en Puerto Rico, mi país natal, y también en Nicaragua durante dos viajes misioneros. A través de esas experiencias pude ver de primera mano cómo no tener acceso a atención médica afecta la vida de muchos. Estas vivencias produjeron en mí una gran pasión por servir a los demás a través de una carrera en medicina.

Community involvement

I recently moved from Puerto Rico for my Family Medicine residency training 3 years ago so I am fairly new to the Lehigh Valley area and continental USA overall. Having lived in Puerto Rico all of my life I was very active with my church in the Puerto Rican community and have been on several missions trips to Nicaragua. Currently I am actively serving the Lehigh Valley community with my Church in the Bethlehem Area.

Participación en la comunidad

Me mudé aquí hace tres años para completar mi residencia en Medicina de Familia, y por lo tanto soy relativamente nuevo en el Lehigh Valley y en Estados Unidos. Viví en Puerto Rico toda mi vida y siempre estuve bien activo con mi iglesia allá, aparte de haber participado en varios viajes misioneros a Nicaragua. Actualmente me encuentro sirviendo a la comunidad del Lehigh Valley con la iglesia a la que asisto en el área de Bethlehem.

Personal interests

Outside of work I love to spend time with my wife and two boys in playgrounds, trails, and daily life. I am also a coffee enthusiast and love making coffee for myself and others and love talking about coffee. I also enjoy playing the piano and guitar at home and at my Church.

Intereses personales

En mi tiempo libre me encanta pasar tiempo con mi esposa y dos hijos y visitar parques, ir de caminatas y vivir la vida. También me considero amante del café, me gusta prepararlo para mí y otras personas, y me encanta hablar de ese tema. También disfruto tocar piano y guitarra tanto en mi hogar como en mi iglesia.
