About

Philosophy of care

I believe in shared decision-making in which both the patient and provider play a part. And I like to treat my patients as I’d expect me or my family to be treated. I think it’s our job as providers to educate and help people make decisions that fit best with their life.

Why I entered medicine

I’ve been an intensive care unit nurse for most of my career, and it’s obvious to me that we need to catch people and address health issues before people get sick. Health promotion and prevention is so important because it’s much more effective than only caring for people when they’ve already developed an illness or condition. Family practice is a great venue for that. It allows us to get to know patients from a holistic point of view and helps us come up with the best plans for them.

Community involvement

I am involved in my community through my children. I am active in booster clubs for all of their sports, and volunteer with our local Boy Scout troop, which is active in community service.

Personal interests

Most of my personal time is devoted to my kids, but I also enjoy staying active with jogging and hiking.
