About

Philosophy of care

I see myself as an ordinary guy taking care of ordinary people. I’m a father, I have two young sons, and I suffer from many of the same complaints that my patients do. Meaning I’m no different than anybody else, and my lab coat doesn’t protect me from any of life’s challenges. For that reason I enjoy working with patients as a partner, recommending treatments, helping them decide on the best care for them, and encouraging their active participation.

Why I entered medicine

I think of myself as a people person with a strong interest in the sciences. I saw medicine as a great way to tie the two together. I enjoy communicating with people, and also having a hand in improving their health through the power of medicine. It’s immensely satisfying to bring about positive changes in people’s lives.

Personal interests

When I’m not immersed in my boys’ sports, I enjoy my own athletic pastimes. I’m an avid golfer and a huge baseball and football fan. I used to play both, but now spend many happy hours watching as a spectator. I’m also a science enthusiast, which extends well beyond the health sciences to include fields like geology. The world and everything in it fascinates me. Which may explain why I also love traveling and experiencing new sights, cultures and ideas.
