Administrative Fellowship Curriculum

David Joseph Administrative Fellowship

Part 1: Rotations and Project Management Experience

The first part of the fellowship is dedicated to planned rotations that provide exposure and project work across hospital campuses and throughout Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN). The rotations have been thoughtfully selected to ensure optimal value to post-graduate professionals who have a specific interest in hospital operations. The project work in each rotation will be selected based on the needs of the organization and the skill-development needs of the fellow. Additionally, fellows are exposed to senior management meetings, committees and other network-wide functions according to their interests and developmental needs.

Part 2: Immersive Leadership Experience

The second part of the fellowship program provides an immersive experience. This experience will be selected from the roles available within the organization with special attention to the fellow’s interests and skill set. Examples may include an interim leadership role or a project manager role for a sizable project with strategic importance.

Lehigh Valley Physician Group Administrative Fellowship

Part 1: Rotations and Project Management Experience

Similar to the hospital operations fellowship, the physician group fellowship will be dedicated to a set of planned rotations that will provide exposure to, and project work in, different divisions of Lehigh Valley Physician Group and at least one rotation in hospital operations. The rotation divisions have been thoughtfully selected to ensure optimal value to post-graduate professionals who have a specific interest in medical groups. The project work in each rotation will be selected based on the needs of the organization and the skill-development needs of the fellow. Additionally, fellows are exposed to senior management meetings, committees and other network-wide functions for an in-depth understanding of physician practice group management.

Part 2: Interim Leadership Experience

The final three months of the program provide at least one opportunity to serve in an interim leadership role. The interim role will be selected from the roles available with special attention to the fellow’s interests and skill set. The interim leadership experience provides an opportunity to gain experience directly pertaining to your goals and desired career path.

Evaluation

The fellow may request feedback as needed from preceptor and project sponsors and will receive a formal evaluation on the annual network cycle. Additionally, a structured competency-assessment process will be conducted at six-month intervals throughout the program.

Please note: Employment requires travel to any of the health network campuses or locations; the fellow must be prepared to take advantage of opportunities as they arise.
