Get to know Christopher Connell, DO, emergency ultrasound fellow.

Career goal: The knowledge and experience gained during my time as the Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) ultrasound fellow will open doors I would not otherwise be able to walk through. The LVHN ultrasound fellowship will allow me to more rapidly diagnose and treat my patients and be a more effective educator. I plan to apply the knowledge and experience gained during my LVHN ultrasound fellowship toward a role in medical education.

What makes your LVHN training program different from others across the country? 

The LVHN training program’s unique strength is its adaptability. The program couples decades of emergency medicine ultrasound experience with the resources of a large and growing hospital network to create a curated curriculum based on the fellow’s career goals. I have the opportunity to teach learners from multiple disciplines, specialties and levels of experience using the newest ultrasound technologies. LVHN fellows also have access to LVHN’s dedicated research department which can help expedite and refine my academic output. 

What is one piece of advice you would share with someone as they select a training program? 

Make sure your program has the resources to help you achieve your career goals while also passing the vibe check. Working with people who are passionate about their field and are enjoyable to work with will motivate you when opportunities become challenging.

What does it mean to be a resident at LVHN?  

LVHN residents and fellows are defined by their dedication to education and compassion for fellow trainees. I am always impressed, but no longer surprised, when an LVHN trainee offers a helping hand when they see a colleague in need. The prevailing ethos is that we are in this together and we can accomplish more together than we can alone.
