Career goal: Family medicine
Born in the Fiji Islands and raised in Turlock, Calif., I pursued my undergraduate studies in biology at California State University Stanislaus. From an early age, I was strongly inclined toward a family medicine career, driven by my passion for bridging the gap between intricate medical conditions and the holistic well-being of patients and their families. Through my experiences as an emergency room technician and various volunteer roles, I solidified my commitment to serving diverse communities, ultimately leading me to earn my medical degree at Caribbean Medical University.
My decision to join the Walter and Irene Baran Schuylkill Family Medicine Residency program was cemented during my interview process and second-look interview. I was deeply impressed by the camaraderie among the faculty and residents, as well as the strong bond within the community. The program’s welcoming, compassionate and positive work environment was evident during the interview. I was particularly drawn to its unopposed nature, offering flexibility in tailoring my training according to my interests. I felt warmly welcomed by everyone and was convinced I would receive comprehensive training in all aspects of family medicine. The program’s supportive community, diverse exposure, mentorship focus and elective options align perfectly with my residency training and career aspirations.
Outside of medicine, I value quality time with family and friends, and I enjoy engaging in activities such as weightlifting, hiking, beach outings, cooking and watching action/comedy movies. I am also keenly interested in learning about random and historical facts.
