Mission of the Pharmacy Department:
To provide quality pharmaceutical care services in a patient-centered experience environment, consistent with the mission of the institution and health network.
As a resident, you will be supported by our clinical pharmacy staff. Lehigh Valley Health Network supports a unit-based clinical staff pharmacist model with clinical specialist support.
Unit-based clinical staff pharmacists balance rounding responsibilities and distributive roles within the following core groups:
- Critical care
- Emergency medicine
- Family medicine/internal medicine
- Oncology
- Pediatrics
Clinical specialists provide expertise within their respective areas while overseeing the education of our clinical staff pharmacists and improving patient care through committee membership, policy and pathway development and implementation.
The pharmacy department has implemented the use of robotic dispensing technology, automated dispensing cabinets, barcode medication administration, computer-assisted physician order entry and a barcode scanning and image capture technology to improve safety during compounding. The use of these advanced resources enables our pharmacists to participate in a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and our pharmacy technicians to perform tasks with greater efficiency and accuracy.
