- Lehigh Valley Hospital–Schuylkill
Caring for the community since 1895, Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH)–Schuylkill includes two hospital campuses in Pottsville, Pa., LVH–Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street and LVH–Schuylkill S. Jackson Street. LVH–Schuylkill continues to grow, advance and receive recognitions for the quality of its care as we address the everchanging needs of the people we serve.
- Reaccredited as a Level IV Adult Trauma Center by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation, giving patients access to fast, lifesaving care from clinicians with advanced training to rapidly diagnose and treat a trauma emergency
- Opened LVPG Family Medicine–Pine Grove
- Welcomed eight new physicians and five advanced practice clinicians into the community
- Acquired a neurology practice in the community
- Conducted a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment, collaborating with government officials, educators, allied health providers, social agencies and the private sector to inventory health resources, identify issues and begin a process to find solutions
- Recertified as a Primary Stroke Center
- Reaccredited as a Certified Chest Pain Center
- Reaccredited for home care, laboratory and counseling center
- Reaccredited by The Joint Commission and Pennsylvania Department of Health licensure division
- Opened the new Joseph F. McCloskey School of Nursing on the LVH–Schuylkill E. Norwegian Street campus to educate more nurses and increase the number of RNs providing care in our community
- Introduced an evening and weekend program at the Joseph F. McCloskey School of Nursing
- Achieved a 100% pass rate in the NCLEX national nursing licensure examination, a strong indicator of the quality of our nursing education program
- Walter and Irene Baran Family Medicine Residency Program has its full complement of resident physicians and is recruiting its next four. The first group graduates in June, and five of the 12 physicians committed to practicing with LVHN upon completion of their residencies.
- Established a “Walk with the Doc” community outreach program inviting community members to meet, talk with and walk with one of our rural medicine family medicine residents
- Participated in more than 100 community events and programs

- Recognized by U.S. News & World Report for providing high-quality care to new mothers and their babies
- Achieved a “B” Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group
- Earned a 3-Star Rating from Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
- Received Excellence in Patient Safety Program recognition from Hospital and Health Association of Pennsylvania (HAP)
- Awarded a Get with the Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus, Target: Stroke Honor Roll, and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll from the American Heart Association
- Designated as LGBTQ+ Leader in the Healthcare Equality Index by the Human Rights Campaign
- Voted Best Hospital, Best Place to Work–Medical, Best Urgent Care, Best Physical Rehabilitation, Best Education Training and more in the Republican Herald’s Readers’ Choice Awards
