It is our mission at the LVHN obstetrics and gynecology residency program that upon graduation our learners will excel in the delivery of comprehensive and compassionate women’s healthcare in an academic or community practice or in ongoing learning in subspecialty fellowship. This mission is accomplished through a diversified faculty who teach in varied clinical settings with a diverse regional patient population and increasing responsibility and accountability afforded to the learners. The broad clinical focus includes physiologic as well as high risk obstetrics, advanced gynecologic care in the ambulatory setting and in MIGS, and experiential training in all major women’s health subspecialties.

Welcome Letter From OB-GYN Education Team

Welcome to the residency training program of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN). LVHN is recognized as one of the premier health networks in the northeast. Our Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) four-year residency program supports six residents per year and is one of the oldest and most balanced, obstetrics/gynecology (OB/GYN) training programs in the nation.

Our accomplished faculty, comprising more than 50 providers includes generalists, laborists, subspecialists, and midwives. They have chosen LVHN for its reputation as a resource-rich and scholarly environment that offers tremendous support in practicing the specialty of OB/GYN. We are extremely dedicated to training our residents and provide vast experience in both general OB/GYN and all subspecialty areas.

Our residents are educated through didactic lectures, conferences, workshops, simulation and mentorship. Through our curriculum, residents also acquire unique specialized skills in the areas of research, quality assurance and public health, and in the practice of evidence-based medicine. Our comprehensive obstetrical service and the Center for Women’s Medicine resident clinic provide ideal settings to learn both ambulatory practice and management of high-risk pregnancies.

Our department also supports a large gynecological surgery volume and features one of the premier minimally invasive and robotic training programs in the nation. In addition, we play an important role in the educational program in obstetrics and gynecology for the medical students at the University of South Florida Health’s unique SELECT program. This provides residents with the tools to be educators, both for students as well as patients.

LVHN is a unique and special place. As a training environment, it incorporates all of the critical elements required of an OB/GYN program and supplies its trainees with much more. If you are chosen to train with us, you will become a competent and highly skilled OB/GYN, and you will be provided with experiences that will allow you to be a leader in the field. As part of our team, you will finish each day of your residency with new knowledge, refined skills and the satisfaction that comes with knowing you are on your way to becoming a confident and talented OB/GYN physician. We appreciate your interest in our program and look forward to hopefully meeting you in the future.
